Mendips in the house where John Lennon lived with his Aunt Mimi from 1945 to 1963. In 2002, Yoko Ono Lennon purchased the home and donated it to the National Trust. The house has been restored in 1950s style to look the way it would have when John was growing up there.
Situated in the suburbs of Liverpool is 20 Forthlin Road, the home of the McCartney family. It is here that a young Paul McCartney listened to his father play piano, and later where one of the world's most talked-about bands was created. Walk through the rooms where the songs "I Saw Her Standing There" and "Love, Love Me Do" were written. Displays, memorabilia and contemporary photographs by Paul's brother Mike can be viewed. Please book in advance, as there is a maximum of guests allowed per time period.
Strawberry Field is a Salvation Army residential home in Liverpool, which was the inspiration behind The Beatles song called "Strawberry Fields Forever." As a child, John Lennon used to play with his friends in the garden behind the home. Visitors cannot enter Strawberry Field, but they can take a photo in front of the famous red gate that borders the garden.
